Re: engine replacement
i agree with Russel, they are great, we have a Brand new recon coming up for sale, 2.3 so a bit more torque, will confirm the price

Re: engine replacement
The 2.1 is a very capable motor. The BosBus cruise at 110km/h GPS at around 3800 rpm with the 15"wheels running 215/80/R15C Conti CrossContacts. It has been on some serious outings and delivers enough power to do most things. Just cooked the clutch properly on the last outing but suspect the leaking crank seal had something to do with it as well.

Re: engine replacement
1.4 tsi is the engine i think that will do well in a syncro
ive got a polo with this engine making 132kw peak and 250NM from low down all the way up

here is something to read if anyone has time

also did i mention the fuel consumption of 5.9 l/100, if i pull in a smashed car with this engine i will definitely consider an implant to test it out

Re: engine replacement
Dean I think that will be well worth trying. It's a great engine. Won VW's first Engine of the Year award ever if I remember correctly. Will be the first Syncro in the world with a 1.4 engine!

Re: engine replacement
It should fit, just a lot of electronics,

i have a syncro with an EJ 33 suby, very nice and strong, just need to sort the management, so far perfect power and Gotech cant run it properly,

Re: engine replacement
i agree that would be easier, but we used an imported motor out of the Subaru SVX, so no management with it, tried perfect power and Go tech, both have issues, but we will sort it out eventually,
