Poll: What would you prefer for National Saamtrek 2014
Plan 1: a moving saamtrek - we sleep at a different place each night
Plan 2: a static saamtrek - have a base camp and do different things each day
Dont mind either

2014 National Saamtrek
Hi Guys

2014 Saamtrek

was thinking it is time to do a national Saamtrek again, think if we start planning it now we can get a nice big group together,
Plan 1: a moving saamtrek ie we sleep at a different place each night, like lesotho 2009 and Swazi /Moz 2010 were
Plan 2: a static saamtrek, have a base camp and do different things each day, like the Gariep Saamtreks

each have their pros and cons, so consensus needs to be reached.
the earlier we decide what to do the easy it will be to get group bookings etc,
we will need to decide and a format, date and place or route,

a moving saamtrek is hard with a large group, more than say 20 vehicles
a staic saamtrek we can then have as many vehicles as can attend, at one of the Gariep saamtreks we had 53 syncros.

please all think about this and post idea's here,

my thoughts on a moving Saamtrek would be a new route in Lesotho, and a static one say in the northern cape/ kagaladi area, this could also be a moving saamtrek,

route for lesotho would be: meeat at Fouriesburg, down to katse via Koa mine, katse to selthabetebe, in the south, then to semonkong, and back to ramambantha via Baboons pass, then to Ficksburg and out home, i would say a week to 9 days would make this awesome.

for the northern Cape: meet in Kuraman, from there to Twee rivieren, 5 days in the kagaladi park, and 2 days home again, could even head home in Bots via mabusehube and lobatse,

or just camp some in the area and do day or 2 day trips to places

stuart

I may be a mechanic, but i can't fix stupid

I really wanna go to kalagadi and Botswana
All depends on dates for me as im finishing up my thesis's from July onwards and may have a few exams that i cant miss
If we do Nothern Cape i assume syncro's from Cape Town will join in ?

P.S. Good idea, I need a saamtrek badly Smile

Re: 2014 national saamtrek
That sounds like a great idea. With my luck though, I'll probably be out of the country, but if I know long enough in advance, I might be able to get someone to cover for me.
I just can't make it in September school holiday as we are going to Botswana for a week.

Northern Cape, Kalagadi and Botswana sounds great. What about Richtersveld.
Lesotho as well or anywhere really.
I've missed all of them so far, so I'm itching for a Saamtrek.

Re: 2014 National Saamtrek
i added a poll to the top of this thread so we can see what people prefer, we can change the poll as we like to help us determine dates ect.
I personally think a static saamtrek may be fun but it would only be if there is a significant number of syncro's there (imagine 100 syncro's in one location)

Re: 2014 National Saamtrek
I agree a 100 plus saamtrek would be awesome, best we had was 53 so far. 100 syncros should be possible

The nice thing with a static saamtrek is that guys can choose when and what they want to do.

Re: 2014 National Saamtrek
Northern Cape would be good. I think you will attract a lot of the cape syncro's that otherwise find it to far to travel.
