2.0i ADY/AGG or ABF motor wanted
Morning all

Sad news to start the week; my 2.3 Microbus' engine is kaput. Sad Took it for drive to Hluhluwe yesterday and it seems a welch plug came out, letting all the water out. The instruments did not warn me at all, no flashing light for low water and the heat gauge only lifted a fraction before I stopped her at the side of the road.

Long story short, I am going to replace the engine with a 2.0 ADY or even an ABF if I can find one. Anybody there able to help?

Cheers
Johan

Re: 2.0i ADY/AGG or ABF motor wanted
These are engine codes. They are found at the beginning of the engine number.
They are all 2 l engines but these numbers indicate the specifics of each. EG one is a shorter block and crank stroke to another. There are different inlet manifolds, fuel rails, injectors, block castings, breather setups, years used etc.
Like on the water boxer you had 3 different 2.1 engines Codes were DJ, MV and SS. They were all 2.1 but The DJ had
112 bhp and the other 2 were 90bhp due to a different management setup and compression.

Re: 2.0i ADY/AGG or ABF motor wanted
Hi Reg

2 ways to fit them, ie upright, needs a raised deck, or sleeping, needs the special sump and cross members, only 2wd versions were available in SA, so they need to be modified to fit a syncro correctly,

both as easy to fit, ady is a slightly newer motor than the agg, 2e is also older but much the same, all the same bore and stroke, abf is a 16valve motor with k-jet fi, other can be run with Mp9 or aftermarket injection.

Re: 2.0i ADY/AGG or ABF motor wanted
Hi Bugger
The SS was Europe only. And then limited to Germany and a few other central European country's.
It was a low compression 2.1 engine with lamder probe and cat same as the MV but with a more advanced ECU and throttle body. This engine only appeared
right at the end of production and there weren't many.
DF and DG were 1.9 carbed engines. DF had the early water system and smaller inlet ports in the head were as the DG has the water system and ports same as the DJ but only a 1.9L.
There was an injection version of the 1.9 as well but very few around. Mainly for America and central Europe. All to do with exhaust emissions.

Re: 2.0i ADY/AGG or ABF motor wanted
Thanks guys

After a chat to Stuart I decided to keep the 2.3i 5 cyl engine, but send it to Arno for a rebuild. Now all I have to do is find that deep pocket so I can afford ... Smile

Cheers
