Corrugations

Corrugations
My Syncro shakes like crazy on corrugations.
Which shocks/springs are best to deal with corrugations - hard or soft or oil or gas.
Perhaps my shocks are gone but I've heard that it is impossible to actually check a shock.
Does anyone have a Syncro which comfortably handles the corrugations on the road to Sendelingsdrif or similarly terrible roads?

RE: Corrugations
My 16" camper is Ok, Taxi springs in front with bilstein Gas shocks all round

but i found 90km/h is the best speed for corrugations, at that speed you seem to float of the top of them

I may be a mechanic, but i can't fix stupid

RE: Corrugations
Bruce, they are good, but they are the non rebuildable versions, i have the custom built ones from before they make off the shelve syncro shocks, they are also not the height adjustable front ones, fixed height like a stock vw shock.

RE: Corrugations
15" Dunlop Trakgrip
Between 1 Bar and 2 Bar depending.
I have tried all variations on pressure, slightly better with less air.
Does anyone find that their Syncro is better on corrugations than a modern style Toyota fortuna or the like?
I mean vibration wise, not handling.

RE: Corrugations
all i can say is a syncro handles better, they don't roll as easily, i got kidney stones from a drive in the back of a hilux 45 d/c going from pta to durban on the N3

RE: Corrugations
So I have recently done a lot of reading, and people say that they set their Fox shocks to very soft when driving on corrugations.
Although soft shocks may be good for corrugations they are not good for highway driving.
I'm not getting adjustable shocks so maybe I should just stay with what I have for now.

On bigger bumps the front end bottoms out and something hits the bodywork, could I avoid this by fitting Taxi springs?

RE: Corrugations
My bus is a nightmare on corrugations but I have stiff sidewall tyres and stiffer shocks. A
lower tyre pressure helps a little but then your sidewalls are exposed to sharp stones.
