Has anyone done this conversion?

yes i did on the "swimcro", had spacers made and caliper brackets and hand brake cables, used VW sharan disc's and audi 500T rear calipers. was expensive 10 years ago, need to move them from the "swimcro" to the "thingcro" some time soon.

I did a conversion just before our "Onbeplan 2012" trip in December but two things made decide to go bigger/better.
Disks was 260mm non vent, I had the wheel hubs machined in order to have the disk fit over it..
Also had the hand-brake cable extended about 100mm.

1. Handbrake did not work as good as i thought it would...
2. The CQP/ZS(Zinsser) calipers leaked brakefluid on the first day of the trip...
I guess it blew past a seal or something..




Now!!!!!!!

I've managed to get a nice 2ndhand set of 280mm non vent disks and calipers... ;-)
Rerouted the hand-brake cable to run over the trailing arm.... This also caught a lot of grass and stuff because previously it ran under the trailing arm..

I have one question:
Should the bleeding-nipple(brake-fluid) be as high as possible or should this position in the photo work to bleed all air out without a problem?

The bleed nipple must be at the highest point on the caliper. Maybe if you use a power bleeder it might work where it is?

Hi, this is my first post in this forum so hi everyone. I did this conversion, audi turbo vented rotors and rear calipers, custom caliper brackets, machined hubs and reversed hand brake cables. Works like a charm.

Define "Incline"

An Incline in town differs day and night from an Incline when you are on a trip ;-)

Offroad obviously. Like when you are going up a steep hill and you stall. Will it keep you from rolling back like the drums do?
